Exactly 30 anniversary after the first Toy Story movie was released, launching the animation giant as a major animation studio and bringing viewers to iconic characters like the cowboy doll (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a brief look into the plot but keeping viewers curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Frightens the Gang

In the teaser reveals Bonnie — who inherited the toy collection when he left for college — getting a latest plaything, one that alarms the familiar toy group. Bonnie acquires her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.

Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the toys appear to consider it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it likely will.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

An element the teaser avoids is why Woody is returned with his friends in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), journeying with a fair and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.

Surely, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him appear in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with Woody. And what about Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?

Continuity from the Previous Film

At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the earlier movie. The final act Woody did before setting off for his fresh path was hand over his symbol of authority to Jessie (Joan Cusack), entrusting her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser shows the badge pinned to her shirt.

Hopefully she is still the key figure among the toys.
